About Our Members - Parliamentary Directory
2010 ACAHO Parliamentary Directory
Purpose
ACAHO has developed the "Parliamentary Directory" to assist members as they engage the decision makers at the national level. In particular, this document is intended to act as a tool that will guide you to the key political players within the federal government, and provide you with a series of "key messages" that have been developed by the Association.
Notwithstanding the significant momentum that ACAHO has developed over the past 8 years, it is important that, to the extent possible, all members become involved in the health policy discussions at the federal level. Particularly so, when one considers that the federal government provides approximately 25% of all public funding for health care through the Canada Health Transfer, and close to 80% in public funding for health research in this country.
In addition to the Briefs and Reports that have been released by ACAHO, we would strongly encourage you to meet with Government and Opposition Members of Parliament to discuss the concerns of our members. Increasingly, it is our view that ACAHO members should take the time to meet with Parliamentarians locally - to complement the work that is accomplished in Ottawa by the Association.
