ACAHO, Rx&D and CIHR Release Final Draft of Action Plan to Attract More Clinical Trials to Canada
In a first ever collaboration of this nature, ACAHO, Canada's Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (Rx&D) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) are releasing the final draft of an Action Plan to help attract more clinical trials to Canada. Building on the 2011 Clinical Trials Summit - which was co-hosted by ACAHO, Rx&D and CIHR - and the insights of more than 130 experts from patient care sites, research, academia, government and industry, the final draft Acton Plan was designed to help reinvigorate and re-establish Canada's tradition of excellence in clinical trials.
The Action Plan is available in final draft to facilitate the last round of comments. ACAHO, Rx&D and CIHR will work on implementation considerations. Read the plan here.

ACAHO Comments on Budget 2012
Recognizing current economic realities, Budget 2012 contains a number of important measures which focus on strengthening the role of the private sector in driving innovation and future prosperity. While these initiatives are crucial to our longer-term competitiveness, we must ensure that we have the right mix of policies, programs and private, public and charitable investments that are strategically aligned to fully leverage our research from bench to bedside to business (see News Release).

ACAHO, along with 6 leading national health research and innovation organizations have come together to form Research 7 (R7), an unprecedented partnership to work with Canadian governments to our biggest health and health care challenges and secure Canada's place as a global leader in health innovation (see News Release).

ACAHO Releases Focus & Alignment – A Report on Health Research & Innovation
ACAHO releases its report "Focus & Alignment - The Research Priorities of Canada's Academic Healthcare Organizations", which addresses three strategic questions: (1) what are the research priorities of Canada's Academic Healthcare Organizations?; (2) how do they align with the strategic priorities of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)?; and how do they reinforce the health-related sub-themes in the federal government's Science & Technology Strategy?
